2026 Youth Programs
Summer S.T.E.M. Program
Ages: 11–16
Schedule: Summer session
The Summer STEM Program introduces middle and early high school students to the exciting world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics through interactive, project-based learning. Participants take part in fun and engaging experiments, coding challenges, and team projects that encourage curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.
By partnering with educators and community mentors, the program aims to make STEM accessible and inspiring for all youth—especially those from underrepresented communities. Students leave the program with new skills, stronger confidence in their abilities, and a passion for innovation and discovery.
College and Career Readiness
Ages: 15–18
Schedule: 4-weekend sessions, offered twice a year
The Career and Trade Readiness Program is designed to prepare high school youth for success beyond graduation by introducing them to practical career paths, hands-on trade skills, and real-world professional development. Over the course of four intensive weekends, participants engage in workshops led by industry professionals, explore vocational and apprenticeship opportunities, and gain essential life skills such as financial literacy, communication, and leadership.
This program empowers students to see the value in every pathway—whether through college, trade school, or direct entry into the workforce—helping them build confidence, purpose, and a vision for their future.
Youth Basketball
Coach Alex “Pali” Sanders started the program in 2014, and he modeled the team culture on the experiences he had growing up with Oscar. Coach Sanders played sports with Oscar, and he always admired Oscar’s competitive nature and dedication to improving his skills. In honor of his friend, Coach Sanders has grown the program from eight players to four co-ed teams, each comprising 12 at-promise youth.
In addition to helping our rising athletes get to the next level, a lot of the program is structured around personal and academic development.
Tutoring and Academic Support Program
Ages: 12–17
Schedule: Two tutoring sessions offered monthly
The Tutoring and Academic Support Program provides focused academic help for youth ages 12–17 in the core areas of Math and English. Each month, the Oscar Grant Foundation offers two structured tutoring sessions designed to strengthen foundational skills, improve comprehension, and build student confidence in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Spots are limited to ensure every student receives personalized attention. Participants must sign up in advance to attend.
Our dedicated educators and mentors work closely with each student to help them overcome challenges, develop strong study habits, and gain the tools needed for continued academic success.
